INTRODUCTION

FRENA Community Based Organization

FRENA Community Based Organization is a community-focused entity that champions, promotes and supports issues affecting youth, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Through its work, the organization seeks to strengthen and build resilient refugee communities, enabling them to become drivers of positive social transformation.

FRENA empowers these groups to become self-reliant and live lives of dignity by providing access to adult education and vocational training. Through the FRENA Community Training Centre we offer skills development in Fashion and Design, ICT, Plumbing, Catering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Language Acquisition, Beadwork, Carpentry, Tiling, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

We work with and empower vulnerable and marginalized communities, including refugees and host communities, with a focus on women, youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs), to build dignified, resilient and self-reliant livelihoods.

WHAT DRIVES US

Our Aims

To champion, promote and support issues affecting youth, women and persons living with disability (PLWDs), with the sole motive of making them become self-reliant and live a life of dignity.
To champion, promote and support adult education and vocational training on various skills such as tailoring, catering, carpentry, tiling, hairdressing and beauty therapy, music and dance, salon management, ICT skills and language learning.
To champion, promote and support a cleaner community environment, cohesion amongst local and urban communities, peace and reconciliation.
To champion, promote and support the talents of the youth from both urban and local refugee communities.
To champion, promote and support vulnerable professional refugees in Kenya by securing job opportunities with fair wages and preventing exploitation through referrals to other organizations and active employer engagement.
To champion, promote and support innovation and youth empowerment programmes by organizing training workshops and seminars in business knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and mobilization of resources and financial support.

It brings me immense joy to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of FRENA Community Based Organization. As the Executive Director and Co-Founder, I am honoured to be part of this vibrant and diverse community that thrives on collaboration, compassion and collective growth.

At FRENA, our mission is clear: to create a nurturing environment where every individual’s potential is acknowledged and amplified. We believe that by fostering strong connections, valuing diverse perspectives and empowering one another, we can create a community that truly flourishes.
